About the Author-Illustrator
Small shapes, big ideas! Meet Deb Karpman, author of My First Little Collage ABC, and founder of Paper Kaleidoscope, an art education learning platform. A passionate art educator, Deb started her career as a traditional artist and art professor, exhibiting her work at 52 national and international gallery shows, such as the Las Vegas Contemporary Art Center, the Lawndale Art Center, the Savannah College of Art and Design, UNC Asheville, and SCA Contemporary, among many others. She also received the Alabama Fellowship for Art and was also a recent artist-in-residence at the Vermont College of Fine Arts on the CalArts campus.
After almost two decades in higher education, she discovered her love of illustration, and her first book was born! Deb's illustrations are all created using a handmade papercut and collage process, using lots of layers, fluorescent papers, found materials, and crafty embellishments.
